Bodom is a 2016 Finnish slasher movie based on a true unsolved murder that happened at Finland’s Lake Bodom. The film follows four teenagers that head out to the lake to try and recreate the murders for a photo project. Little do they know, they may be in for more than a re-creation.

Nothing beats a decent slasher movie in my eyes and this one definitely fits the bill. You aren’t going to find anything ground-breaking or genre-bending but you are going to find a solid slasher that pays tribute to those that came before it while still managing to avoid feeling stale. The setup is classic: four teenagers camping by a lake in the woods with a murderous history. The plot is twisty and keeps the viewer in the dark about the characters intentions, and does a good job of keeping you guessing. As far as slashers go this one has a pretty low body count but the kills are quality and it certainly doesn’t skimp on the gore.

I definitely recommend this movie, so give it a watch if you want to see a slasher that pays tribute to the genre without feeling stale, if you don’t mind reading (THIS MOVIE IS SUBTITLED), and if you want to see an actor that could be the link between Macaulay Culkin from Home Alone and present day Macaulay Culkin.
